Marriages are said to be made in heaven, performed on earth and broken in court. When Bolywood celebrities get married their fans expect a fairytale to look up to. But despite what happens to them on screen, it’s not always “happily ever after” for our real life Bollywood couples.

It takes a lot to keep a marriage together. In the past decade, a lot of Bollywood celebrities decided to let go of their partners and took the path of divorce. Here’s a list of a few Bollywood couples, that no one expected would part ways.

Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan

The couple had been married for 14 years and had courted each other for 4 years before they tied the knot. After being separated for almost a year, the couple officially finalized their divorce on November 1, 2014. While some believe the reason to be Hrithik’s alleged affairs with his co-stars, others believed it to be a publicity stunt. The couple shares joint custody of their sons Hridaan and Hrehaan

 

Farhan Akhtar and Adhuna Akhtar  

In January 2016, the Bhaag Milkha Bhaag actor called quits with his wife of 15 years. Adhuna Akhtar is a celebrated hairstylist and the couple has two daughters together, Akira and Shakya. The two had met on the sets of Dil Chahta Hai in 2000, and decided to get married after dating each other for 3 years.

Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan

After 18 years of marriage, Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora ended their marriage in 2016. Their divorce was officialized on May 2017. They had got married in 1998 and were pretty successful in their respective careers. They have a son Arhaan who was born in 2002. Personal differences and Arbaaz’s financial instability are being cited as the reasons for their separation.

Konkona Sen and Ranvir Shorey

Actor Ranvir Shorey and Konkona Sen had dated each other for four years before they finally got married. 5 years and one child later, the couple decided to end their marriage, on the grounds of incompatibility.  Even after the divorce the couple continues to work together and maintain friendly relations for the sake of their son.

Chitrangada Singh and Jyoti Singh Randhawa

Actress Chitrangada Singh and golfer Jyoti Singh Randhawa had got married in 2011 in a fairy tale wedding.  Four years later, in 2014, the couple decided to end it because Chitrangada was unable to spend quality time with their family and prioritized her acting career. The couple has a son named Zoravar, whose custody has been given to Chitrangada.

Karishma Kapoor and Sanjay Kapur

After a lot of speculation the couple has finally signed the divorce papers. This is considered as one of the ugliest divorces that the B-town has witnessed. The two ended up dragging their personal fights onto public platforms. Until Saif Ali Khan interfered and convinced them to end their relationship.

Anurag Kashyap and Kalki Koechlin

The actor-director duo had got married in 2011 and separated in 2013. They officially got divorced in May 2015. Although, nobody did expect them to split, the two continue to remain good friends with each other.
